General Rules and Regulations

Transactions with the IDC library shall be done only through the use of College I.D. Each student must secure an official College Identification Card, which must be presented at the Circulation Counter every time he/she wishes to borrow book/s from the library. The librarian will scan the barcode number of the College I.D. and the book/s to be borrowed. Transaction slip/ card will be issued to the library user.

  • To borrow a book, bring the book together with College I.D. to the Circulation Counter.
  • The librarian or library staff will scan the barcode of the book/s and the College I.D. and upon completion of data registration, the user will receive a transaction slip or card.
  • Library users will return all borrowed items/materials to the appropriate counters. Circulation books must be returned to the Circulation Counter. Multimedia, General Reference materials to the Reference Section and non-print materials to the Multimedia Section.
  • To return loaned materials for take home use, the borrower will present the College I.D. and the book/s borrowed to the Circulation librarian or the library staff.
  • IDC students are allowed to borrow a maximum of two books for three days.
  • Full-time faculty is allowed to borrow a maximum of five books for three weeks, per semester.
  • Part-time faculty is allowed to borrow a maximum of five books for two weeks, per semester.
  • Non-teaching staff are allowed to borrow a maximum of three books for a week.

Note: All books may be recalled anytime upon request.

  • Reserve books with only one copy and books that are selected by the faculty and library committee as reference for their curricular course for students.
  • Students can borrow the reserved book for an hour for photocopying purposes only.
  • Students can borrow the reserved book for reading purposes only inside the library for three hours, and is renewable for another hour if there is no prior request from other users.
  • Reserved books are placed in the Circulation Reserve Books Area.
  • The Filipiniana books cannot be circulated. However, duplicate copies may be checked-out according to the regulation and privileges in terms of Circulation Books.
  • Dictionary, Encyclopedia, Handbook, Manual, Atlas, Almanac, Yearbook, Periodicals (Journals, Magazines, Gazette), Theses, and Manuscripts. These library collections are not circulated and are for room use only.
  • All books are for room use only a week before the final examination.
  • A book borrowed and not returned during the final exam week will be charged of Php 3.00 per hour.
  • Viewing of CDs by students is allowed upon presenting a request letter noted by the professor or subject teacher.
  • The faculty who intends to borrow multimedia materials for classroom use should make reservations ahead of time. The reservation procedure is as follows:
    The faculty must present his library card and borrower’s card to the person-in-charge in the reference section.
    He should sign the control card of each a-v material he intends to borrow.
    Signed control card should be logged in the book for record purposes.
  • Faculty may request a preview of multimedia materials as long she/he has the library card to present to the library in-charge.
 
  • Borrowers who have unsettled fines or/and overdue books will not be allowed to borrow more books unless he/ she settles his/ her accountabilities.
  • Overdue Circulation Books are charged of Php 5.00 per book a day, excluding Sundays and Holidays.
  • Reserve Books are charged Php 3.00 per hour.
  • The borrower is responsible for the loss of books he/ she checks out.
  • Lost books must be reported at once. The computation of fines for an overdue book shall stop at the time that book is reported lost.
  • The borrower will be charged according to the cost of the book indicated in the sales invoice plus the processing fee of Php 200.00.
  • Book to be replaced. Book assessment shall be according to the accession record, plus the standard processing fee of Php 200.00 will charged the borrower. In case the title of the lost book don’t have any printed copies available, the library will allow that the book will be replace and content is similar to the lost one.
  • Any book not returned at the end of the semester/summer is considered lost.
  • The borrower is responsible for the damage of books he/ she checks out.
  • Books with missing or mutilated pages shall be reported at once.
    Mutilated or damaged of library materials will cost the borrower a rebinding fee for those books judged fit for it.
  • As for missing pages, the borrower will cost for copying fee.
  • If the books are too damaged for repair, borrower must replace the book or pay the exact price of the book. The procedure and policies will be accordingly to the lost book policy.
  • An IDC reviewee (not IDC graduate) is entitled to avail the library services (excluded the borrowing privileges) from Mondays to Saturdays free of charge. However, he must present a letter noted by the Dean, Faculty or Person in-charge of the IDC review center channeled thru the library.
  • IDC alumni can avail the library services (excluded the borrowing privileges) as long he present the alumni ID to the librarian.
  • All library collections are for library or room use only.
  • Inquiries about lost articles/items may be made at the Head Librarian’s Office.
  • Students, faculty and staff must return all library materials and must settle their accountability to be cleared before the end of the semester.
    At the end of each semester, clearances will be signed provided that the user has no accountabilities left.
  • Baggage area is self – service.
  • All users and visitors should leave their bags at the baggage counter before entering the library circulation area. He / she should bring all his valuables, e.g. wallets, cellphones, etc. Library staffs are not responsible for any missing or lost item/s due to the negligence of the users.
  • All users should follow the direction at the entrance/exit alley to avoid congestion in the flow of the traffic in the control area.
  • Students, faculty, and staff must wear their college official identification card and uniform at all times.
  • All users who intend to borrow books for home study or for photocopying outside the library should present the books and borrower’s card to be checked by the assigned staff at the control area of the library.
  • Only bags, folders, and envelopes are allowed to be deposited at the baggage counter.
  • Users with unclaimed bags that are left overnight are charged of Php 25.00/day as storage fee.
    Payment should be made directly at the Circulation Counter. Circulation librarian/staff will release receipts to the users.
  • Users must observe the proper IDC Dress Code and conduct in the library.
  • Silence must be observed at all times. All cellular phones or similar gadget must be set to silent mode before entering the library. Answering/making calls should be done outside the library.
  • Library users must log their name, course and year level in the library logbook.
  • Water bottles, food and any kind of sharp objects are NOT allowed inside the library.
  • Bags or any baggage must be left at the baggage area except valuables (cellphones, calculators, wallets, etc.). The library will not be responsible for the loss of personal belongings.
  • Use library materials properly. Do not tear page/s nor underlined part/s, as these are forms of vandalism and are punishable under IDC Library Policy.
  • Leave book/s on the table after using (except for Reserved Books that need to be returned to the counter.
  • Sleeping, eating, smoking, making class projects (like drawing, cutting, littering, etc.) inside the are prohibited. However, drawing is allowable limited to bond paper size.
  • Keep the library facilities in order. Push back chairs after using.
  • Present your things for inspection before leaving the library.

Note: Library is a place of learning, research, study and stores any source of information for intellectual development of library users. In connection to this, library users are not allowed to room around, talk, sleep or display any kind of behavior that may disturb other users. If you will be caught violating library policy, your school ID will be confiscated by the Library Staff and endorsed to the Committee on Discipline.
